Services
Intake Introduction and Free Musculoskeletal Screening,
We first set down with you and ask you about your medical history in reference to your medical condition(s) and your visit with us . Then we perform a musculoskeletal screening with you which is a very important process to our program with each client. This is done prior to any workout session and is repeated on a monthly basis. This will help us find any deficits that need a special assessment or referral to a health professional.
Functional Scales and Special Assessments
If we find there are some deficits from your intial screen we would ask you to complete an assessment to discover further details about your deficit so we can better manage your medical condition(s) or refer you to a health professional if you are unable to meet our criteria. This assures that you have the best total care before, during and after rehabilitation.

ABOUT
Terry is a certified Medical Exercise Specialist (MES) - a specialist trained in over 60 medical conditions. He was motivated by more than 15 years of working as a personal trainer in various private and fitness settings and had the pleasure of working with many great training staff and clients. During this time, He trained people of all ages and found one thing in common - they didn’t know how to train with a medical condition. So in 2013 he created Halifax Medical Exercise Training (HalMET) and has been providing personalized exercise programs for over a decade to those with various medical conditions in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Here’s what a MES does: A MES helps clients manage referred medical condition and continue fitness training so that they can better live with general physical functionality. By drawing on the foundations of clinical anatomy, pathology, exercise physiology, kinesiology, and bio-mechanics, a MES develops safe, effective, and structured exercise and conditioning programs for clients with medical conditions. This Medical Exercise Training (MET) manages medical conditions by enhancing and/or maintaining function through the use of cardiovascular, strength, flexibility, proprioceptive, balance, and stability activities. A MES offers no treatment modalities or diagnostic services; clients are diagnosed and referred to a MES by general practitioners, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, and other health professionals.
